There are patches of the flowers colored violet, white, and yellow that appear in the garden. A light snow has fallen the night prior, which has caused and ethereal dusting of light white snowflakes to blanket the immediate scene. The garden appears outside of a log cabin on the side of a large hill that overlooks lovely valley. The dawn sun has risen, which casts a large reflection of light on hilltop garden, but leaves the far side of the valley in shadow given the small mountains in the far background. Several small cottages dot the landscape of the valley below. The focus of the piece is the contrast between the lovely early Spring flowers blooming in the garden, and the last futile attempt of winter to cover the landscape with snow. However, the thin blanket of snow will soon melt, providing water and life to the waiting plants below. The work is unsigned. It is an exceptional masterpiece.
