Gollum stands inside St. Peter's Basilica, in the magnificent and venerable surroundings of the Roman cathedral. But instead of his usual dirty clothes, he is wearing the pope's vestments: an opulent white pontifical robe with golden decorations and the traditional mitre on his head. His haggard, shadowy face looks even more distorted in contrast to the religious dignity that the robe radiates. He holds the golden keys of the papacy in his small, crooked hands, as if they seem to belong to him with difficulty. The enormous interior of St. Peter's Basilica, with its tall columns and magnificent vaulted ceiling, seems almost overwhelming as he stands there, lost and shy amidst the monumental architecture. But despite the sacred setting, there is an eerie sparkle in his eyes as he holds the “treasure” in his hands - his faithful, beloved “treasure”, the “treasure” he can never let go of.
